CCA Announces Renewal of Contracts

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Jul 19, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Corrections Corporation of America (NYSE:CXW) announced that it has renewed four separate state contracts and a county contract, involving the provision of secure housing and management of approximately 8,640 offenders, according to CCA officials. If fully utilized by the contracting agencies, these contracts could potentially accumulate to annual revenues of approximately $135.1 million.

    The listing of contract renewals includes:

    --  Bay County Jail, contracted with Bay County for 276 beds in
        Panama City, Florida (original contract awarded in 1985);

    --  Alaska Department of Corrections, contracted for 800 beds at
        the Central Arizona Detention Center in Florence, Arizona
        (original contract awarded in 1994);

    --  Colorado Department of Corrections, contracted for 2,220 beds
        in three Colorado facilities, including Bent County
        Correctional Facility in Las Animas, Huerfano County
        Correctional Center in Walsenburg, and Kit Carson Correctional
        Center in Burlington (original contracts awarded in 1996,
        1997, and 1998 respectively);

    --  Georgia Department of Corrections, contracted for 3,048 beds
        in two Georgia facilities, including the Coffee Correctional
        Facility in Nicholls and the Wheeler Correctional Facility in
        Alamo (original contract awarded in 1997); and

    --  Hawaii Department of Public Safety, contracted for 1,100 beds
        in various facilities (original contract awarded in 1998).
The Company said each of these contracts is subject to renewal on an annual basis, with the governmental agencies having the option of re-bidding the management contracts.

Earlier this year, CCA announced five federal contract renewals representing approximately 1,900 offenders and potential annual revenues of $57.6 million.
